Senior Gender and Behavior Change Communications Advisor
Senior South African professional to provide technical leadership and guidance on behavioral and structural interventions for HIV prevention; with a specific focus on gender-related drivers of the epidemic, such as gender norms and gender-based violence. S/he will strengthen the capacity of project partners in civil society and government at the national, provincial and district level to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based strategies that focus on gender as one of the key drivers of the HIV epidemic in South Africa. S/he will also be responsible for providing TA to authorities at national, provincial, district and community levels in linking mass media and national campaign efforts with community and interpersonal HIV prevention and other gender related prevention initiatives. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in HIV prevention and gender; a proven ability to provide technical assistance and advise government departments, NGOs, and community-based programs on gender mainstreaming in HIV program strategies including gender analysis and targeting; and strategic information / monitoring and evaluation skills specific to HIV and gender. At least 6-8 of years experience in the design, implementation, and/or evaluation of HIV and gender programming, with at least 5 years specifically in South Africa with HIV/AIDS initiatives, required.

Founded in 1961, Project Concern International (PCI) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community health and integrated development worldwide. PCI is headquartered in San Diego, CA, and currently operates in 15 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. PCI\\\'s sectoral focus areas include: health and nutrition; water and sanitation; food and livelihood security; humanitarian assistance and disaster risk management; and disease prevention and mitigation, including HIV/AIDS. PCI has developed particular expertise in mobilizing and building the capacity of communities, including organizations, governmental agencies, and networks, to participate in program design, implementation, and monitoring for sustainable and measurable impact. PCI began operations in South Africa in 2008 with an innovative PEPFAR-funded program that addresses gender-based violence by changing social norms that are keeping violence against women alive. PCI is implementing this project in two provinces, in partnership with the Kwa-Zulu Natal and Western Cape Networks on Violence Against Women.
